The PPLH Puntondo on Sulawesi is one of the three environmental education centres in Indonesia which have been initiated and are supported by PanEco. The PPLH Puntondo is mainly visited by local schools as well as by educational institutions from further away. Many classes come for a short visit. However, trips to the Centre lasting several days are also possible. It offers courses and workshops on topics such as sustainability, waste recycling or climate change for all levels and all age groups. One of the main goals of the Centre is to impart knowledge about marine ecosystems and mangroves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"1080\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 1920 \/ 1080;\" width=\"1920\" controls src=\"https:\/\/paneco.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Mangroven-pflanzen.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Centre focuses on planting mangrove seedlings. Mangrove forests help to counteract the erosion of coastal areas and provide an important habitat for young fish. It provides a very useful example to show visitors why environmental protection is important to all of us. If there is enough time, the pupils help to plant new mangrove trees themselves and experience environmental protection at first hand. This often proves to be a formative experience!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"1080\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 1920 \/ 1080;\" width=\"1920\" controls src=\"https:\/\/paneco.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Abfall.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to environmental education, cooperation with the village community in the vicinity of the Environmental Education Centre is also important. For example, a waste collection campaign was organised on World Environment Day. Many villagers helped to collect litter on the beach. At the end of the day, a whole container was filled with waste, which was then disposed of.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the preconditions for implementing successful environmental protection programs is<br \/>\nto raise the level of knowledge and general awareness among the population.
