Working together for the protection of species<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How can we help an animal species living thousands of miles away? The Biopark has asked itself this question – and found the answer: through partnerships with organizations such as PanEco. Already last year, when our orangutan quarantine and rehabilitation centre was destroyed by several landslides, the Bioparc stood by our side. By appealing for donations and providing material aid on site, they were a great help to us during this difficult period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both organisations have the same mission: the protection of biodiversity. The Bioparc de Gen\u00e8ve also follows the same principles we have in the \u201cOrangutan Haven\u201d in Sumatra. We not only consider it our responsibility to care for individual animals in need, but we also see them as ambassadors for their wild counterparts. People can relate to the stories of our animals, and this can help them to understand why their protection is so important. The Biopark is strongly committed to the theme of palm oil. through targeted information, the Biopark aims to raise visitors’ awareness of global issues and thus make a further contribution to the protection of tropical forests and orangutans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the Bioparc Gen\u00e8ve?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bioparc Gen\u00e8ve (formerly Parc Challandes) offers a sanctuary to over 300 animals belonging to 90 European and exotic species which need vital protection. The park pursues several different objectives: conservation, research, environmental awareness and education. It also offers human therapy with animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through direct contact with the animals and by telling their stories, the Bioparc succeeds in raising awareness of the threat to many species and their habitats. Species protection doesn’t stop at the enclosure walls. The Bioparc also supports projects abroad – in Indonesia, for example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
